Rockin’ The Night Away
For the first 6 months of her life, Rebekah had a clean bill of health. We were truly surprised (and grateful) that she wasn’t sick at all during that time. But, for the past month, there hasn’t been a week to go by where Rebekah wasn’t, in some shape or form, under the weather.
We love the idea of teaching Rebekah to share. Sharing is an important quality to have. But we have to teach her that sharing her colds aren’t included. Needless to say, our baby has an “all or nothing” mentality like her daddy, and is sharing everything she has, including her germs. It’s ok, though; we can take a few colds as long as we have her in our lives.
So, the past few weeks have included some long nights and alot of rocking our little baby girl in the rocking chair. To be honest, it’s been a long time since I have been as tired for such an extended period of time. But, I have to say, holding this little life in my hands while she struggles to fall asleep is one of the best experiences of my life. In fact, it’s probably one of the coolest things I have ever done; to know that I can play a significant role in the comfort of my daughter while she is sick. Amazing.
This whole experience has been causing me to love more, love deeper, and cherish every moment that I have with my family. Through all the playing, laughing, coughing, runny noses and ear infections, I have began to understand love. Not only me loving someone, but someone loving me. It is quite an amazing season of life.
